Solution

To solve these the challenges, I first started by setting up in what I thought was the best place to be. That was closest to the water, to avoid people in my shots. I then tackled the sun going down and the lights on the boat were just getting blown out. So whenever I went to take a shot I shot two steps above and below what the camera thought was perfect lighting.
